Transforming Childhood Trauma
1 in 4 Canadians in the 2012 census reported some form of childhood trauma or abuse. That number roughly translates to 8,000,000 people in Canada, and one can extrapolate approximately 82,000,000 individuals in the United States. This issue is an epidemic. And it is getting worse as witnessed in the number of US based school shootings. .Today, most researchers in the field of alcoholism and addiction recognize that at its core - child abuse in any form is at the root of most addictions and maladaptive behavior. And these experiences impact how we live our adult lives, usually buried in our subconscious minds. David's personal and dramatic story of surviving his own father's chronic alcoholism and extreme violence led him into his dark night of the soul and teenage alcoholism. Using his original academic training in the behavioral sciences, David sought out recovery at the age of 21. He has written and produced some insightful television productions on the twelve step approach and worked with hundreds of individuals over the past 47 years.
